Day by day
A rhythm rather than a timetable. Days start early, middays are slow, evenings are long.
Arrive in Victoria Falls and settle into the relaxed rhythm of Zimbabwe. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy an easy afternoon at your lodge before heading out for a sunset cruise on the Zambezi. As the light softens over the river, your Zimbabwe journey begins.
Today is dedicated to one of Africa’s great natural wonders. Walk through the rainforest surrounding Victoria Falls and experience the ever-changing views of the cascading Zambezi. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at your own pace, perhaps with a scenic flight, cultural experience or another view of the Falls.
Leave Victoria Falls behind and travel into the wilderness of the Zambezi National Park. Your destination is Mpala Jena, an intimate riverside camp set beneath indigenous trees along the Zambezi. Settle into the slower pace of camp before enjoying your first afternoon safari or river experience. Mpala Jena is located within the Zambezi National Park and remains close enough to Victoria Falls to combine the two experiences without sacrificing a genuine wilderness setting.
Wake to the sounds of the river and spend the day discovering the wilderness around Mpala Jena. Choose between a morning game drive, guided walk or river excursion before returning to camp for a leisurely afternoon. As the sun sets, the Zambezi becomes the backdrop for another unforgettable evening in the bush.
Continue south towards Hwange, Zimbabwe’s great wilderness stronghold. Arrive at your chosen camp and settle into the landscape before heading out on your first game drive. As the afternoon light stretches across the plains, the safari begins to feel deeper, wilder and more remote.
Rise early for a safari across Hwange’s open plains and woodland. The park is home to extraordinary concentrations of elephants alongside lion, buffalo, giraffe, wild dog and an impressive diversity of other wildlife. Return to camp during the heat of the day before heading out again as the landscape comes alive in the cooler afternoon.
Your final full day is yours to experience Hwange your way. Follow wildlife on a morning game drive, venture out on foot with a professional guide or spend time quietly observing a productive waterhole. End the journey with a final sundowner as the African sky turns gold above the wilderness.
Enjoy a final breakfast surrounded by the sounds of the bush before your transfer to the airstrip or onward connection. Leave Zimbabwe with the memories of Victoria Falls, the Zambezi River and the wild landscapes of Hwange.
